Ages 7-12. At a well ventilated studio and garden in the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, California. Some materials provided.
BASIC SUPPLIES LIST
WEIGHT: 140 lbs cold press. Arches, Fabriano.
Affordable paper: Canson, Strathmore.
ONLY PAINT IN TUBES. Colors: Alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue, burnt Sienna, cadmium yellow. Plus, cerulean blue, permanent rose, mineral violet or similar.
Affordable Brands: Turner, Grumbacher, Da Vinci, Cotman Winsor and Newton (whatever is on sale)

Watercolor tubes of 15ml. or 8 ml.
Brushes: Sizes and types
Round point. Sizes: 8 and 12.
Flat brush: 1.5”, 2”
Affordable brands: Princeton, velvet touch. Chinese brushes.
Plastic palette with cover ($1,50 at Daiso)
and Styrofoam plates to mix additional paint.

What to expect:
Beginners receive a list of basic supplies ranging in price from frugal to professional quality.
A sketch and photo provided via email for you to be ready to paint when the workshop starts.
A live demonstration of watercolor techniques including color theory, value and color studies, and other techniques. As questions arise. Everyone participates and shares their work as they see fit.
What we will study:
Learn the water-to-paint ratio and other concepts to get the transparent effect characteristic of watercolor.
Practice specific techniques with short painting exercises.
Explore composition principles to design a pleasant landscape
Paint incidental figures for cityscapes and people scenes.
Get a primer on perspective with tips to apply in all your paintings
Suggested donation: $15-20
What you need:
A smartphone, tablet, laptop or desk computer with the Zoom application. Also Whatsapp for those outside the US.
A well-lit space or natural light.
